A significant step toward modernizing Norway’s public transport infrastructure is underway as Teleste announces a new agreement with digital signage specialist ZetaDisplay for the delivery of cutting-edge information displays to Ruter AS, the transit authority overseeing mobility across Oslo and Akershus. Set to begin in 2025, this comprehensive upgrade will see Teleste’s advanced stretched TFT displays deployed across the region, replacing the existing passenger information systems and introducing a new standard for real-time, visually compelling transit communication.
Teleste’s displays are designed with a 32:9 aspect ratio and come in three different sizes, tailored for versatile use across Ruter’s network—from busy commuter poles to sheltered stops scattered through the urban and suburban matrix. This ultra-wide format maximizes legibility and aesthetic integration, ensuring information is accessible at a glance without disrupting the spatial coherence of transit spaces. The new displays are not only built to deliver technical excellence but also designed with attention to visual harmony. A refined door profile introduces a slimmer, more contemporary edge to the units, minimizing the masking of the front glass and aligning the hardware with the architectural language of modern transit environments.
Central to the technological leap is the integration of Teleste’s advanced display unit controller directly within the display hardware. This internalized control system supports a robust layer of cybersecurity protections, streamlines remote management, and ensures consistent performance even under the demanding conditions of public transport operation. By consolidating control, diagnostics, and security features, Teleste’s system architecture allows Ruter to benefit from lower maintenance costs, faster issue resolution, and greater overall reliability.
This project also builds upon an enduring collaboration between Teleste and ZetaDisplay, both of whom have previously partnered to bring high-impact signage solutions to transit authorities throughout Norway. Claudio Borrello, Head of Display Solutions at Teleste, emphasized the synergy between the two companies, expressing confidence in their shared ability to deliver superior results for Ruter. Marius Lysholm, ZetaDisplay’s Country Director, highlighted how the partnership supports ZetaDisplay’s commitment to enhancing the passenger journey—delivering not just information, but meaningful, real-time communication that keeps commuters informed and connected.
For commuters across Oslo and Akershus, the outcome will be noticeable. Whether waiting at a suburban bus stop or navigating the city’s transport hubs, riders will encounter brighter, crisper, and more responsive digital signage, aligned with the region’s broader goals of sustainability, digitalization, and service excellence. This joint venture marks a forward-looking investment in the daily rhythm of public life—quietly transforming the waiting moment into one of clarity, engagement, and confidence.
