Its newly launched Cloudinary Moderation tool uses AI to automatically review images against a company’s specific visual guidelines, approving, flagging, or rejecting them before they go live. The idea sounds simple at first, but the problem it addresses is anything but.
Most brands already know what they want their visuals to look like. The issue isn’t defining standards—it’s enforcing them once content starts flowing in from outside sources. Marketplaces, partner networks, vendors, user uploads… suddenly the clean, curated brand image turns into something uneven, sometimes subtly off, sometimes obviously wrong. A logo slightly distorted, colors just a bit off-tone, a product photo that feels amateurish next to a polished catalog shot. Individually small issues, collectively they chip away at trust.
