A dense crowd fills Old Town Square under a heavy grey sky, waiting for the astronomical clock on the Old Town Hall tower to strike the hour. The clock and its calendar dial are sharp on the left, and the dark twin spires of the Týn Church rise on the right. Between them the pastel Baroque facades of the Kinský Palace and its neighbours fill the middle of the frame. The crowd crowds the lower third, with caps and the backs of heads right up against the lens. It isn’t a classic postcard view. It’s a true one: this is what the square looks like at the top of the hour.
